Living Values explores the physical skills of the warrior, as well as the moral, political, and economic issues that are the real-life context for studying the art of ethical warriorship.
There are several major influences of Living Values. The most significant are:
- The teachings of Japanese Martial Arts Master, Masaaki Hatsumi.
- The Life Values Theory (sometimes known as the Dual-Life Value Theory) of natural law scholar and conflict resolution specialist, Robert L. Humphrey.
- Modern de-escalation and tactics as practiced by the US Marine Corps, law enforcement, and others.
